>>>>UPDATE<<<<<
SONG'S GONE!
YAY!
"hotel nj" has new vocals and will be out on THURSDAY YES THIS FUCKING THURSDAY AS PROMISED! Probably early in the day like 10am or something. Sorry I can't be more specific.
<<<<<<<UPDATE OVER>>>>>>>>
...and REVERSED IT and claimed at as his own. ASSHOLE THAT IS MY FUCKING SONG "FOUR FUCKING CHORDS" YOU HAVE NO FUCKING RIGHT TO CLAIM IT AS YOUR OWN, ESPECIALLY WITH THAT GAY-ASS DESCRIPTION OF IT, WHICH GOES:
I was strummin' my guitar one day and made this. Best set of lyrics I've made and ever made, period.
WHICH IS HILARIOUSLY SAD BECAUSE I FUCKING WROTE THOSE LYRICS. I MIGHT TAKE IT AS A COMPLIMENT EXCEPT FOR YOUR CLAIM OVER THEM, WHICH IS PATENTLY FALSE.
RIDICULOUS.

still stickin with NEXT THURSDAY for the release of "hotel nj"
vocals are gonna be tomorrow or sunday/monday morning, menthol lozenges and i gotta get me some mint medley tea, that always does the trick. kurt used nyQuil (big fuckin Q) and yeah that does several tricks... heh heh.
next week leading up to NEXT THURSDAY i'll work my stuff on the vocals, master the whole thing and voila! new song.
hope it's that simple.

not that i haven't tried to have my own leit motif, as it were... everything's taken anyway vis a vis the radioactive symbol or those weird horn things that i don't even know where that file ended up... anyway on NEXT THURSDAY I GUESS i'll be putting up "hotel NJ" now version 3.3 if you want the exactness of it, 3rd take of the guitars... it's a single 'guitar mix' even tho y'know me i love that big overdub guitar sound, but i've learned to do it subtly... this mix ends up with guitars more like waiting to die's sound but hey, you tell me... when it comes out THAT THURSDAY - NOT THIS ONE yeah you tell me, really... i'm asking... i mean, i'll probably put it in GENERAL ROCK? I MEAN RIGHT? because wow i'm listening to it and there are things happening (reverb, chorus, no real 'repeated verse melody' vocals), that grunge... well i'm not a fucking authority on grunge or what musical style is what... i don't write wikipedia, whose entry i think i haven't actually read... i don't really know. but right grunge is sloppy? i took "the brink" and "twin flames" out of grunge and put them in GENERAL ROCK BECAUSE YEAH they rock but they're not... i don't know... this all i'm sure sounds so whatever... "hotel NJ" is like this other thing, it owes more to NIN or even smashing pumpkins, who i think history has agreed are not grunge or anything like it... i don't know... you may hear something different, you tell me...
i'm just doing stream of consciousness here because well i put "helena, batshit crazy" on myspace and AT FIRST UNTIL JUST NOW censored myself... i have four fucking chords up and they've let me get away with it. why should they fucking care about the word shit. i needed to be human after ALMOST doing that. it's shit like that that happens behind the scenes here with me. that, and a lot of rock n roll. but not much else.
oh and sleep.
but not much of that, either... well usually. i overslept yesterday so now i'm all weird.
right?
get back to me between now and yeah NEXT THURSDAY not that i won't post something else in between but you know, tell me what you think about this GENERAL ROCK question as per the two songs i put in there, or ask me what the fuck i think i'm doing with a techno song like HOTEL NJ's original version already here through some ROCK AND ROLL MUSICAL LENSE even though your not hearing it yet. i know it's weird. so am i. neurotically yours... SHIT THAT'S TAKEN TOO! lol i love it FOAMY IN 2012 he can fucking peck sarah palin's eyes out, and for fuck's sake i hope everybody's like "Who?" for palin and not fucking foamy. please.

Ok wait it's not junk... it's fine literary forms and some rock n' fucking roll!
Uh, yeah.
The new stuff is the long-awaited publication of THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OS JESUS X in two volumes for your enjoyment! You can find that, and everything else here at my Lulu.com store! Now, be careful because I have the hardcover AND paperback versions available, same with Godlings! (Excited!)
If you're hearing my music and liking it, you should consider buying my album. I know you can just download it here on NG for free, but trust me those version are poor sound quality compared to what I have for sale.
You can also download all eleven (11) tracks here.

UPDATES LINKS FOR THINGS +ROSS-RELATED
My album "Manifest Destiny" on Lulu.com
as a CD: http://www.lulu.com/content/6020129
mp3 download: http://www.lulu.com/content/multimedia /%2br%C3%98ss_-_manifest_destiny_-_dow nload/6021738
Also "Godlings" the novel is back up and perfectly revised at http://stores.lulu.com/rossallaire and coming soon, the trade paperback editions of The Autobiography of Jesus X (Parts 1 & 2), which combined are basically 'The Adventures of Black Jesus' only way more fucked up. I know it sounds weird, but if you think that stuff like Jesus and God and all that is a bunch of horseshit, then seriously this book is for you, because it basically proves you right. From the horse's mouth. The horseshit.
Hmm.
Anyway...
Over at http://www.myspace.com/rossisnotgunshy I mentionedi n the blog that I'm setting up to record a plugged-in version of "Four Fucking Chords," sometime this week.
Oh, and yes...
...if you're like me, and watch stuff on YouTube...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwZzYSU qsH0
much appreciation. until i set up my own YouTube channel, this is how the word is going to be spread!
:) lol
i commented on it. that's me, ROSSunleashed. Proof!
apparently other people were saying they were me, Gunshy, Ross, +ROSS, whatever it is.. me. i find that ridiculous. and of course, reprehensible. not to mention completely fucking wrong. kudos for spotting out the fakers, dude.
great job with the, uh, video too. i love your music notations when its the breaks and solos, that's worth it alone! someday i'd love to see a really cool flash put to that song. it's so visual. zooming into "my fingers glued together" and "flies or fleas" and all the ways of dying... it would be so brutal!
In the meantime, at http://www.zazzle.com/gunshy I have t-shirts that say "I PROBABLY HATE YOU" and a matching bumper sticker. Wacky +ROSS merchandise, like a "Waiting to Die" t-shirt or a professional-grade skateboard imprinted with my artwork!
Crazy shit.
I'm asking you to trust me with your support. I'm not just trying to hawk shit, it's beyond that now. I'm asking you to fund me, as an artist, so that i can make more, better art.
please.
thanks for listening.
PLAY IT LOUD

p.s.: coming soon to lulu.com, a collection of fucked up short stories called "Ten Pieces" and "Fear & Loathing at Ground Zero," an essay about my visit to NYC on 9/11/02. And shortly after that, a compilation of some of my ambient works, tentatively titled "Sleeping with Ross" because yeah you know you want to. lol!

UPDATE - Some formatting issues with the current rear cover text, but other than that a great sounding product. The title is way off the spine. I implore all who buy it to take a permanent marker and write the name on the side. i'm doing mine in silver, to see it more easily.
Yeah, I say it below but the paperback of "Godlings" is coming soon.
A re-formatted (and probably remixed a little) version of "Manifest Destiny" is coming soon. I'll update the link below, of course. If your CD case arrives broken, I can personally replace it for you at no cost.
I'll be publishing a lyrics booklet for "Manifest Destiny" very shortly.
Also coming soon, part I of "The Autobiography of Jesus X"
I've been practicing guitar with new drum and bass arrangements of most of these songs, and i's a lot of fucking fun.

Ok here it is in its entirety! if you can get over the fact that the loud guitars sound slushy you'll hopefully enjoy this is as much as I do... THE BRINK! There's a reason why grunge and heavy metal isn't played on AM radio, cause this is kinda what it would sound like, that slushy warbly treble crap that is the result of NG's 8MB limit on audio submissions. Don't get me wrong. It's a good limit. But not when you have a 13'32" song to listen to all the way thru in one sitting. Or to post for that matter... I don't even care if you talk or chat or text or whatever through the whole thing it's just cool to put you thru this... most of my musical influences are represented here, I think. Nine part progressive psychedelic grunge rock epic written and recorded by me. All instrumentation and arrangements by me, blah blah blah... genre-blending, etc.,... if you don't like what you hear just wait a minute, it'll be something different,... it's about the status of our world and of our national identity in these times of crises. It's nothing new, in the history of the world, but WE should all be worried, at least.
"the brink" (new)
rhumba beat backseat
the war drum shimmies
throws rhetorical punches to make news
but America is a well intentioned foster parent
who thinks a smack on the rear is a hellfire missile
sic semper tyrannus
aren't you worried?
aren't you worried yet?
better start worrying, asap
sic semper tyrannus
take me back to the olden days
not good or bad but just the same
was it as simple as black and white or just as grey
as today
the pros and cons are infinite
actions all deliberate
but the hawks and hippies bleed the same for it
freedom
just how much
will we give up
to try to save our own hides
this is the part I hate
the waiting
if I am to fight I wish they'd bring it on
enough of this shit
how else will the panic end?
how do we get back to normal
when the auld lang syne are lost and mostly dead
hint: never again
this means war
without end
our children's children will do it all again
fear not sweet police
your enemies are drawing near
but as pure as your intentions may be
they inspire fear
no more tears
please I beg of you
+ + + + +
A GRUNGE EPIC IN NINE PARTS
1. rainbow six
2. sic semper tyrannus
3. where we were
4. horrific chapters about to be written
5. the brink of war I
6. nothing special
7. the buildup
8. the brink of war II
9. finale

No alarms, no surprises.
[Ongoing] Notes on the re-recording of "The Brink"
ok so that little experimental runt of a song has grown into this monstrous epic, as i said it would.
but it's different now!
what you've been hearing (hopefully) as parts 1 & 2 are now parts 3 & 4 of the total song. the opening sequence is a rerecorded slice of "rainbow six" in the new key and everything and then goes into a brand new second part. this section (with a latin name) was its own song that was just way too repetitive and boring by itself so voila! i smooshed into this song and it works well, i think. total song length is now a whopping 13:30 and although its gonna sound like crap in a low bitrate here on NG, it'll rock nonetheless. i made it and i love what i'm hearing, missteps in guitar-playing aside. i've done tests at the low bitrate and yeah it suffers but it still sounds ok. i won't know 100% fore sure until the vocals get recorded and added in. that'll be fun. what i'll probably end up doing is offer the full bitrate version on SNOCAP thru myspace, and/or put it on the demo or full-length cd i'll be putting out thru lulu.com. i know, i'm name-dropping like crazy but that's the way it is.
this song sounds awesome, and with each minute i complete i love it more and more. big sound. lotsa solos. great antiestablishmentarian message, and of course that trademark ross sound that you know and love or know and hate or don't know and love or hate or never really knew at all... or something. hang in there! :)
in the meantime... PLAY IT LOUD!

>>UPDATE ON THE UPDATE<<
ok so that last 4 minutes is going along ok for right now. i'm at like 1:30 left as of right now, and then just going back over and making it all go nice and leveled out and all that. i blew out my bigass headphones, thats for sure, so i've been playing it loud while making it, which is fun.
my new plan (which shall promptly gang aft a'gley as soon as i write this) is to have an official demo AND the full-length album on lulu.com by the new year. the demo (DEMONStration) will be 3 songs that i will order myself and send out to record companies. my home-made hand-written ones were shabby as hell and probably got rejected on appearance alone. the full-length album (Manifest Destiny) will be most of the grunge songs here on newgrounds + the brink + some instrumental extras. i'm preparing the liner notes and all that jazz at the moment, but like i said... life keeps getting in the way.
see you soon!
[UPDATED UPDATE OF THE UPDATE]
09-27-08 0437
finished the basic instrumentation. getting the levels right is a bitch.
10 tracks = 1 tempo + 4 "dry" guitars + 4 "wet" guitars, generally the wet ones being solos and whatnot, with the dry tracks being the main rhythm parts.
3 bass synths to make a nice full sound.
one of my best drum setups yet, i think.
its a set i used already with a song i never recorded vocals to yet.
this is the problem with my releasing of new music as of late, or lack thereof.
whatever.
its getting done now.
more to come.
i've got a whole library of shit in my head, it seems.
i even figured out a way to extend the song a little bit at the beginning, maybe anothe 20-30 seconds or a minute if i push it.
anyway, i did a test of the bitrate with the song in NG format, meaning less than 8MB, and man it really does suck. if your headphones suck its ok, but if its a good stereo forget about it.
so, i may feel forced to release some kind of sectioned off version. i'm not sure where i'd even cut anything...
...it does kind of force you to buy the album when i produce it, though...
what the fuck is the symbol for like a smiley face with devil horns?
is there one?
thats what thats like.
anyway i'm pretty much just waiting for the mp3 to encode so i can listen to the latest mixdown on different stereos and see what the levels ought to be. its what i do. i played the first burn of the song in my car this morning on the way to work, and sang along.
fun.
but the guitars were way too loud at the end.
io can just hear how much my ears adjust to the loudness... and start to suck as ears.
anyway...
