NEW ALBUM IS BASICALLY DONE AS SOON AS "Something for Nothing" IS DONE, SO YEAH LOOK FOR THAT IN A MONTH OR SO I HOPE I THINK I PRAY IT'S DONE THEN YEAH

below: early concept art for the album... gotta whole new motif for it though... this'll be the rear cover for a demo, or a poster or something

that new album

...because there's always at least one!

ok. here's the deal: with the still-impending completion of "Something for Nothing" i will then officially have enough material for the next album, entitled "No Standard Model"
that seems like a good thing, right? but hey, this is me we're talkin' about here...
doing that - just running it with the lineup as is - would mean two things: A) a slight lack of unreleased material for the album, because i still haven't gotten around to recording "(new wave) alkaloid chemoreception" and "chickenshit" yet, which i had intended to be the 1st and 2nd songs on the album (but not released here on NG), respectively. The opening track on the album as is would be "this is it (the title)" just fyi,... and B) your mom.

some kinda preview...?: 'no standard model' was chosen as the title originally to make the reference to particle physics, because we all know i love a good esoteric metaphor as much as the next guy... but it has come to mean, on this record, that a plethora of genres is represented - between songs as much as in them. this thing's a real trip, man...

"Waiting To Die" (lyrics, cuz somebody asked)

http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /95390

"i am this close to rising up," oh i say,
with my fingers glued together
little light between them
now there's no more need for vote sand talk
or hopes and dreams, those fantasies are all sickly
just like me

i'm waiting to die...

here on death row (planet earth) small comforts are much-obliged
there's no more food or clothes that ain't covered in flies,
or fleas, respectively
i beg for clemency from the jury in my mind
'please review the case before you. is this justice?' i ask you...

...that i'm waiting to die...

in the meandering course of this soul's life i have been subjected to all manner of torture
also shot, stabbed, hanged, burned, poisoned, beheaded, drawn & quartered, starved, beaten, bombed, defenestrated, crucified, drowned, cut, frozen, choked, dismembered, pressed, stretched, run-through and buried alive
for all time, for friggin' thought crimes

i'm... waiting to die
cuz this is bullshit
that we are all walking, talking targets
so i'm waiting

this is a wake-up call
to all the sick people

The whole history of these books [the Gospels] is so defective and doubtful that it seems vain to attempt minute enquiry into it: and such tricks have been played with their text, and with the texts of other books relating to them, that we have a right, from that cause, to entertain much doubt what parts of them are genuine. In the New Testament there is internal evidence that parts of it have proceeded from an extraordinary man; and that other parts are of the fabric of very inferior minds. It is as easy to separate those parts, as to pick out diamonds from dunghills.

sure, yeah, i mean what ISN'T grunge anymore... right?
but if surf rock is part of it, you can't fucking just de-throne me right now, before even so much as the coronation. that torch's light just agot a little fucking smaller, cuz of that. i don't care if 'seasons in the sun' was on the dvd. there's a reason that shit never came out while he was alive. it's the fucking beach boys. fuck the beach boys... fake-ass fuckers. it's so great just surfing and not knowing or thinking anything about anything bigger than fucking surfing and chicks and sun and fun. fuck all that fake-ass shit. gets in the way.

1) i have a disturbing lack of coltrane in my music collection

2) tool won championship in WMMarch Madness on WMMR over pink floyd. i called to full circuits in the final minutes of the contest (where listeners voted on their fav band in match-ups), ready to scream into the phone "don't make me choose!" but alas, tool won without my indecisiveness. 53%, and MMR played the tool a-z late into the night. awesomeness.

3) ah, taxes...

4) taxes suck

5) come on, asteroid! hurry the fuck up! even a supervolcano explosion or coronal mass ejection is better than what looks to be the slow decline of a civilzation beginning. it could have been swift. it could have been sudden, and righteous. but now it's like the slow haul. no other shoe.

6) i said the word "retarded" today and made an entire desk of nurses go quiet. oh, right...

7) a book of prophecy is coming soon!

Rock on.
Stay weird.
Play it loud.
Be safe.

AS POSTED ON MYSPACE (cuz it sucks)

Hey, it's me... Ross. How's it goin'?

Mm-hmmm... well, a) glad to hear it! OR b) oh, man... that's too bad.

I'm a mix myself.

But as for rock n' roll, grunge is being resurrected over here pretty nicely, thanks for asking.

I'm taking it in some new directions every day, and you can hear a lot of that here at my 'band' prof...ile. I use he quotes cuz it's just me down here at The Egg House, making all the bipolar manic depressive dystopian post-grunge psychedelic metallic progresso-sludge punk funk garage power electronic rock n' roll you've (hopefully) been hearing and (hopefully) enjoying over the years.

But, hey... this message has to have a point, right?
If you've got it, you should 'fan' me on Facebook, because Myspace just totally sucks lately. It's all whores. I mean, granted I'm doin some whoring of my own (with this comment) but still, ya gotta admit this is at least some pretty honest whoring right here...
Anyway, yeah... what the fuck was I saying?
Oh, right, Myspace sucks, so friend me on Facebook if you have it. If you don't, then continue being my internet friend/fan here in the wasteland. [Ed. Note: Myspace was referred to as "the cyber-ghetto of the internet" by a TIME magazine columnist about a month ago, so y'know that makes it true for people. That's the grain of salt. If I believed everything I'd read about the internet in print media, I'd think Newgrounds was a fucking ghost town, but no... carry on.]

I mean, I'll still be here regardless... so, yeah.

Rock on.
Stay weird.
Play it loud.
Be safe.

p.s.: art by Jinetik down at the Massacre collab (lol think you don't know how to link? ha ha! i'm worse! but i can compose a symphony. how the fuck is that possible?) i am hugely, really excited and thrilled to be a part of that project... moral support in every direction in its extreme! those guys will make a great fucking flash movie for your entertainment, and mine... looks awesome so far! :)

the song i'm composing, "something for nothing" has 4 parts and looks like it's gonna be 22 minutes long. powerpop, drum n bass, dance, prog, blues, rock, hard rock, piano... this thing runs the gamut. it's gonna be fucked.
it tells the story of a possible history of the next few billions years in our solar system, a red giant swallowing planets, two suns, one of them is blue... the first part begins with the story of the last man left alive after the icecaps melt. funny, darkly sarcastic histrionic shit. i'll be getting a female vocalist for at least the first part, and am open to suggestion or applications...?
i'll probably take a break on 'S4N' at some point and record something else, so look for that, or something else entirely, soon. yeah, probably something else entirely. look for it soon. lol!

in the meantime,...

[ed. note: revised standard 01-15-2009]

OH AND I just found out that i'm on iTunes.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/rever se-causality/id150859543

"Pride" and there's a remix of it on there for all you completionists, done by a nice fellow calling himself the Peach-Stealing Monkeys... this is awesome. it was, and still is an honor to be apart of that CD, as seemingly insignificant as it was, or is. it hasn't sold at all. it's cool. it's great just to be nominated.

P.s. [pre-script?]: oh and happy new year, btw
p.s. [now it's post-script!]: i do happen to have a new album out, of mostly Newgrounds material. this is the true Newgrounds Ross/Gunshy album, conveniently titled GUNSHY.

http://www.lulu.com/content/compact-di sc/%2bross---gunshy-%28cd%29/8085642

p.p.s.:
Times are tough all around, I know this. You can't find a job. Your parents don't have extra money. I know. Times are tough everywhere. The poorest country in this hemisphere just had one of the most devastating earthquakes in modern history. Times are tough everywhere. All I ask, all I've ever asked of this pulpit, or any, is just to give me a chance to help you. Help me succeed. Help me get a bigger audience to help make this world a better place with my music and writings and my general outlook on the world. It might not be bright and sunshiney all the time, but it's better than the bullshit that pervades our airwaves. Give me the chance to help everybody. Not just from this pulpit, soapbox, blog, whatever... from bigger ones. Success, if nothing else, grants words and emotions the chance to reach more people, more quickly. And that's anyone keeps in this life: words and emotions. They're all we really carry with us, in the end, and possibly beyond. Religion is bullshit. Politics is bullshit. Money is bullshit. They are all like weather. I really feel like if I could just get the chance to be more well-known, somehow respected more widely as an artist, to say these things out loud and articulate the argument in the heat of the moment in just such a way, I could become this mouthpiece of a generation. The things no one really seems to want to be. I think a lot of us here generally feel that way about ourselves, and possibly about my music and books. I can only hope, and try harder. But just surviving, and staying sane about it are proving difficult tasks. Times are tough all around. Some deeply personal and deeply unfair shit is going down in my life. And it's just the beginning. It's just the in-between time. So help me help you help us all get the fuck outta the rut, and get the word out about the music that I've made, the rants and stories I've written, and the fact that I exist as an artist... even if you think I fucking suck, tell people I suck and that they should check me out to see how much I suck. Thanks. And fuck you. :)

Stay classy, America.
