perfect title

somewhere between metal and punk lies grunge. wait, grunge doesn't lie!
cool tune. catchy and rockin... good sound quality, too.
something weird happens at 1:57, like the rendering program was overdriven, or interrupted.

beans384 responds:

Yes. Sorry about that =D Big fan of your songs by the way haha. Im not too sure what went wrong with the sound quality. Thanks for the review!

that was cool

i can hear what cooldsunshine was saying about ti sounding jumpy, but since aphex twin is one of my favorite techno artists, jumpy is good to me!
i like how the beat changed from fast to slow every other pattern at one point; gave it a more eurotechno feel than the typical american counterparts.
intricacy in basslines is absolutely essential to music in any genre or format, but to again agree with cooldsunshine, the lack of a clear tune or theme in this song did hurt the replay value. being able to hum along to a song is important to some people. try switching up between the crazy frenetic bassline and a tuneful one. this creates an overarching theme to the piece as a whole, and makes it a little more interesting.

Nessbeatsfox responds:

Thanks for the review Gunshy! Yeah, I'll look into the more of a melody thing like I told Cooldsunshine. I like the jumpiness to it also, so maybe I can work on making it jumpy, but having a good lead at the same time. The bassline seems to be more important then I thought, so I'll start focusing on making it more melodic. Thanks again for the review!

i like it

solo acoustic is like tea or wine... simple, but you can just make out the suggestions of beats and rhythms beyond the music.
good job. good playing. the string plucking stuff wasn't great, but your transitions between that and strumming were right on

nirvelyar responds:

Hey, thanks alot man! I'll work on it.

hell yeah

agreed, nice way to start to start off '08! awesome job. those weird guitar solos are tops. hmm yeah, debatable about the drums. i'm a big fan of big loud drums so i can get what DJ Shinobi was saying, but you're the artist, so do what YOU like to to do!

Nessbeatsfox responds:

Thanks Gunshy! Yeah, I was thinking about the drums, and I might make them stronger, but that's the joy of being the musician: I get to choose how the music sounds. Thanks for the review!

ok.. well i like the frog too, but...

good job so far on using Fl Studio, because that's what i use. it's quite an eloquent program, and a major breakthrough from FLP2 and 3, that's for sure...
i just have a question, "why 5 paragraphs for the Author's Comments and not once do you actually give credit to the original source?" i mean, c'mon... you didn't even say it was from chronotrigger until somebody asked you two comments down. thats beat to me.
as good as this may be, i feel in my heart that i could only ever give it (or the work of anyone else that is a video game music cover) a 3 or 3.5 out of 5 because it's not really your song.
the fact that you go into all this detail about how hard you worked on this project and how you don't want people to vote it down for no reason and how you were just tinkering while "trying to write" an original piece (which i find hilariously delicious) and blah blah blah blah... you forgot to mention that this song comes from ChronoTrigger and boy is that a fun game to play!
that would've been nice, is all i'm saying, at the beginning of the listening experience, rather than at the end after i've read yourwhole life story.
yeah, i'm haute. deal.
good job, though... nice drums.

Xavon responds:

I'm a hardcore gamer, I kind of forgot that not everyone has played the games I consider the greatest of all time.

Hence why I didn't mention the original source to Chrono Trigger, but many songs submitted to the VG section are like this as well with no mention of the original source. The reason they are submitted to the Video Game Music section is because, obviously, they are usually from a video game or have that video game feel, most likely the former.

I never mentioned that this was an original piece or that I thought up the idea myself. It should have been obvious it was a remix.

awesome

awesome stuff. good sound! good job remixing, cuz it sounds big and loud. u rock!

Nessbeatsfox responds:

Hey thanks Gunshy! That means a lot coming from you. I hope to make more good songs in the future.

love the song, love your previous response

screw short versions!
short versions are for people with short attention spans, not real fans of music.
this song is awesome. i don't usually listen to metal, but this is really quite good. yeah, melodic and terrifying all at once!

Goatchrist responds:

Thank you for the nice review dude :) I'm glad you liked it.

wow...

that kicked ass
it's metallic punk!

Evil-Dog responds:

yeah kinda huh?
glad you liked it
