Ok here it is in its entirety! if you can get over the fact that the loud guitars sound slushy you'll hopefully enjoy this is as much as I do... THE BRINK! There's a reason why grunge and heavy metal isn't played on AM radio, cause this is kinda what it would sound like, that slushy warbly treble crap that is the result of NG's 8MB limit on audio submissions. Don't get me wrong. It's a good limit. But not when you have a 13'32" song to listen to all the way thru in one sitting. Or to post for that matter... I don't even care if you talk or chat or text or whatever through the whole thing it's just cool to put you thru this... most of my musical influences are represented here, I think. Nine part progressive psychedelic grunge rock epic written and recorded by me. All instrumentation and arrangements by me, blah blah blah... genre-blending, etc.,... if you don't like what you hear just wait a minute, it'll be something different,... it's about the status of our world and of our national identity in these times of crises. It's nothing new, in the history of the world, but WE should all be worried, at least.
"the brink" (new)
rhumba beat backseat
the war drum shimmies
throws rhetorical punches to make news
but America is a well intentioned foster parent
who thinks a smack on the rear is a hellfire missile
sic semper tyrannus
aren't you worried?
aren't you worried yet?
better start worrying, asap
sic semper tyrannus
take me back to the olden days
not good or bad but just the same
was it as simple as black and white or just as grey
as today
the pros and cons are infinite
actions all deliberate
but the hawks and hippies bleed the same for it
freedom
just how much
will we give up
to try to save our own hides
this is the part I hate
the waiting
if I am to fight I wish they'd bring it on
enough of this shit
how else will the panic end?
how do we get back to normal
when the auld lang syne are lost and mostly dead
hint: never again
this means war
without end
our children's children will do it all again
fear not sweet police
your enemies are drawing near
but as pure as your intentions may be
they inspire fear
no more tears
please I beg of you

I don't think you need to use obscure latin phrases in your song, it just sounds pretentious and I'm sure that's not what you intended by it but that's how it comes across to me. Hopefully I'm the only person who finds that frustrating and patronising.
Gunshy (Updated )
hopefully you're right.
but on the other hand, i don't care. if you dont know this phrase then its now your job to look it up. if thats pretension, then so be it. i know what the phrase means.
you dont think i need to use latin phrases (its not obscure by anyone's standard but yours), but i certainly liked using the phrase this time. i dont NEED to do half the shit i do, but i do it anyway.
THE IRONY: is that what the phrase means also fits in that melody perfectly, and i knew that before recording the vocals.
AND: I just have to ask you, if you check back again... Is it pretentious to have used a latin phrase because you didn't immediately know what it meant, or did you know the significance of the phrase, and you genuinely feel sorry for - and feel the need to stick up for - all those others that don't know what sic semper tyrranus means? i'm curious.
