potential

this has potential. you have potential. this was ok but there was no real rhythm to the chords. the notes all just slid into the next one.
and yeah, laying down bass, drums, and multiple guitar parts is time-consuming in ways that are beyond tediousness!
ok for being in the demo stage. yeah it suffers a lot from the digitized quality of the guitar(s) and vocal. the sining was very grunge, a la mudhoney or sonic youth. but like i said this has potential. keep at it!

SwampWater responds:

Thanks, I appreciate the constructive criticism. :-D

definitely driving...

totally do some drums and bass to this too... it rocks!
short and simple but wow great sound!
(images of running red lights, GTA-style...:))

jr73380 responds:

Thnks for the response! I have my brother working on drums and i have a lead guitar track i am fiddling with to go over top.

better than 2.0 for some reason...

i like the altered tempo-ness of this version better. you go from this slow and grueling version of the riff. good effect on the guitar, really shined at 1:00 with the power chords. i like the change-up there. i like the dynamics of this song. even with the distortion you make the guitar soft. excellent playing skill!
it wasn't really repetitive at all, which is a bonus in my book!

FolksFox responds:

Really?
Wow, I didn't think it was that great.
Thanks man! I'm more confident about playing now.
Oh and check out Euphoric Depression 2.0

like sonic youth!

that's immediately what i thought of when listening to this! i like it. the crazy soloing and the spoken word vocals. real cool. too short, though, and although the main beat along with the riff was nice and heavy-sounding, this song may have benefited from a kind of breakout section, or ending, where its more or less a straight beat with more or less one of the same riffs as before.

TenGroundandDown responds:

Yeah I kinda recorded it in one straight shot, I really couldn't think of a break out section and didn't feel like writing any more lyrics. Thanks for the 8 though!

this is just awesome

i wanna say its dope as shit but that might seem too 80s... i love this. its warm and hypnotic and the "robot" sounds are off-putting in this awesome juxtaposed way. i love the sound and tune of this. i has a great feel that is this standing still contemplative buildup of emotions... awe.
respect!

sweet

something about that bass thru the vox amp makes this sound awesome to me. i really like this, because its not normal... at all! i must look into this math rock thing of which you speak. a little like primus, if they got into a deep philosophical debate with explosions in the sky for a brief minute on the train or at a bar or something... the fact that all that is just a bass guitar really speaks to your playing skill, even though it sounds like the triplets around 0:27 didnt work out so well (if thats what they were). whatever. the drums sound awesome, too. thick snare and good atmosphere to them.

hm. yeah!

headboppingly cool main riff... i get what TenGroundandDown was saying about peter gunn feel, like an onward march of a beat... i love the bass solo in the middle! that really made my day. :) good sound quality, ok dynamics in the song itself (how the chorus is soft, and has the broken beat kind of break/hook at the end). it kind of loops which is interesting, as well. good job!

1st-person shooter game fanfare

this should be in a game! rock.
if you consider the work unfinished or anything, then i apologize in advance, after the fact.
this should be in a game.
that's the only way it's repetitiveness wouldn't be noticed... big explosions and people screaming and shit in the foreground of the soundscape, with this in the background. kickin ass, taking names... it rocks. but its the same thing over and over again. the drums did a little fill, and wow i almost got es cited for a changeup. but even in a video game, that's where the song would either fade because you entered the helicopter picking the platoon up or whatever. or it would flash to something.
i would have loved to hear some gothic organ part right in the middle there... that's what this song really needed... more.

a-huh.

use more distortion. your fingering skills are excellent (that sounds dirty as hell) but for the kind of speed and the riffing of your soloing you need sustain and distortion in ample supply. that or just play harder. it had a cool bluegrass/metal sound that could of worked better if it was more of either of those things. grunge does owe a lot to rockabilly, and it was good to hear it. but like i said your technical skills were pretty good, but this song suffers a lot from simplicity (even with the layered guitars - they were all the same), poor sound quality, and timing: even recording just the first track with a metronome or click track will improve the rest of the tracks' timings dramatically.

this was cool

i like the melody of that second chord in the progression... what's with the timing? (and silverguitar's attitude?) the beat cycles out of the loop a little bit throughout, and then especially at at the end there at 2:20...
i like music like this, a simple beat and melody, it's soundtrack music, for walking/driving in between scenes or something, going after the bad guy or getting the girl... it's motivational metal. good stuff, but a bit more variety in changes and a bigger atmosphere would make this a truly epic song... nice job though.

mentally-detached responds:

I'm glad you liked it. The timing... yes... its off... big time. Originally this song was just going to be a concept recording, so half the recording was done with no metronome or drum beat. So I kinda took my concept recording and started to put the rest on top of it. Listening back to it, I probably should have done it right.

Thanks for the review.
