[+RØSS] - NO STANDARD MODEL - CD OUT NOW! (damn right)

Posted by Gunshy - July 2nd, 2010

Yeah, we're back... cheese it!

The new full-length album NO STANDARD MODEL is now available thru this cleverly labeled link (or should be, right?) at Ross Allaire's Lulu.com Storefront which as you surely know is THE place to purchase Ross' life's work... Novels, poetry, [+RØSS], and man this time... really outdone himself, itself, themselves, and it's really thanks to all of you, everybody, everything, so keep fuckin' that chicken...

anyway here's what's new from me, available for the first time EVER in a commercially-friendly way, although S&H is a fucking monster... if only it were available elsewhere...? hmmm, anyway here's what's brand-new hot off the fucking presses direct to you from god knows where:

first of all... [+RØSS] - NO STANDARD MODEL - the new, new wave grungy progresso-sludgy power pop metallic psychedelic rock and roll album from your favorite embittered New Jersey native, featuring some of the songs that premiered right here on Newgrounds over the last year, including "This Is It (The Title)" and "Hotel NJ" and especially delicious for your musical ears might be the unabridged, full-length, 24-minute version of the new hit song of the new decade and the impending social apocalypse, "Something for Nothing"

reVISION: a prophecy of doom and hope - is what it is, an epic poem of prophecy, commentary, and personal recollections... also has some pertinent song lyrics of mine throughout, some as parables, specifically the full lyrics for 'waiting to die' and 'something for nothing'

Sleeping With [+RØSS] (CD) - a CD of ambient music & soundscapes to sleep to, fuck to, trip to (not that i'd recommend it in general), or use as halloween music for cryin' out loud...

and finally, what i wrote in the middle of Godlings because i just had to get away from a story about murderers for a few weeks... Figment Sage OR: Nothing Artistic Ever Happens in This Place - a novella about kids in the summer before senior year, from the rear cover summation: "5 nights & 5 days in the dysfunctional life of Arthur Legend. This is the mid 1990's suburban American teenaged work week, Monday thru Friday, right after the kids are off for the summer. It'll be Arthur's senior year come fall, and his short stories have already caught the attentions of the student body, as well as friends. Glimpses of his creative and somewhat tortured mind speckle and repaint the canvas of this portrait, by way of inglorious mini- adventures featuring Private Legend stalking zips in Vietnam, Commander Legend on a mission to Mars with a deathly sick navigator, among other incarnations... oh, and there's drugs. Coffee & booze, too."

So, yeah... do i know my target audience or what? Shit, i'm one.

Just wanted to remind everybody that my 1st album, MANIFEST DESTINY is still available for download. All the books are also downloadable as pdf files, if that's your bag...

Also just wanted to remind everybody that i make t-shirts, posters, ties, shoes, hoodies, stickers, mouse pads, binders, ties, stamps, even a fucking skateboard at my Zazzle.com store and it may not be the greatest shit in the world (and again, god knows where the hell it actually comes from, hopefully a nice country, right?) but it's all made directly by me. i do all the art for the albums and books, too. that's why it takes so long! ;P

so good night, and good luck.
happy 4th, be well, be safe, and play it loud!

p.s.: forgot, if you have Facebook (which i hate just a little less than Myspace) then you should really click +ROSS and then the 'Like' button if and when you get the chance. Do it. And could you just... do me a favor... could you just, go ahead and have a great day? Can ya do that, huh? go on, get outta here already!

I actually laughed out loud at
"and again, god knows where the hell it actually comes from, hopefully a nice country, right?"
im excited as fuck right now. i mean shit, this is awesome.
i think ill be able to get NSM bought by tonight, since its a weekend and all.
maybe even Sleeping With Ross...it sounds sexy enough. i'll see, depends on my totals. that's like the chap stick you throw in your cart at the biglots checkout.
no offense. that's tasteless of me to say.

this is a well-written advertisement by the way, just thought you should know. i didnt plan on buying figment sage until now. you're playing me like a violin. at least it sounds nice.

im going to go get me a bucket for my ejaculation listen to the s4n six mix. keep up the good work, im way overly excited for this stuff. :D

lol "sounds sexy enough" - the marketing department in my head are all high-fiving each other. they were a little put off by the chapstick comment, but only because they didn't really get it at first, and then they just high-fived each other all over again anyway. a sale's a sale! :P

just a sidenote, you should look for a self-publishing company in the United States, this
$10 shipping chaps my ass.

mine too

okay, its a week late, but I did get my stuff ordered :D
with free shipping to boot.
eh, I had to use my sister's credit card and she has a pretty low limit on it, so I couldn't really shell out as much I wanted to but, two books and a cd. that works. I swapped Ten Pieces with Figment Sage, because it was longer, and I thought it might be better.

excitement. :D

YAY!!!

so i finally got the CD, not either of the books, those'll probably come tomorrow. I guess shipping everything separately is more cost efficient...curious.

right now, something for nothing is at 22:42; but i think i can fairly judge the album at this point. and my judgment is, i like it. its artistic, and vastly different, but its quite good. especially if you pay attention to the small details. fantastic prison's drums are fierce and that's one of my favorite tracks from the album, though to my dismay the shortest. most of the previously unreleased songs are short, but still good. state o teh union sounds longer and the background music is a somewhat different from the original NG one if I remember correctly. and Something For Nothing, specifically the second half (around 17 minutes in for those keeping score at home) is pretty epic. its meaningful and closes off the album in a way that feels rewarding. the general feel of this album is a bit different not only because its mostly electronic, but because its not about hating everyone as much as it is about hating/loving one. and almost every song is about being in a prison. i haven't listened thoroughly enough to pick out lyrics, but just the idea seems very concept albumy to me. and yeah, its really something that you have to sit down and listen to rather than just pick out certain songs. which i have no problem with, most of my favorite albums are like that. they've got a bigger meaning and just toy with your mind more. like musics an opiate and i need harder shit.

definitely epic, definitely good, definitely worth the money and the wait.

RiotFlash approved..now for those books. :D

DOUBLE YAY!!
wow, you like 'fantastic prison'? awesome. shows you never know... glad you liked the drums specifically. those will pretty much be my default drum set for future recordings. i added 3 tools to my arsenal right near the end of recording, 1) giant guitar amp (you can hear some feedback in 'This Is It' from recording the new solo guitar overtop the old one), 2) a whammy bar (free with amp, lol), and 3) that drum sound set.

lol shit! there is a running theme! it IS a concept album!
